Transportation
El Catey Airport (AZS) - more and more flights are being added to EL Catey. It is only a 20 min drive to Las Terrenas.
Santo Domingo (SDQ) - the most flight options will be via SDQ. It is a just over a 2 hour drive from the airport to our home via a high quality toll road that is a beautiful drive. However, if you arrive after dark, we recommend staying in Santo Domingo and driving to Las Terrenas in the morning. The road is not well lit and can be hazardous after dark. You can rent a car at SDQ or take a taxi service for about $170.
Taxis and Vehicle Rentals
By far the best transportation service to/from Santo Domingo is Santo Domingo Taxi. Ken, the owner, has knowledgeable, English speaking drivers and well maintained vehicles.

ATVs, scooters and cars can be rented in Las Terrenas. We have used Genarro Rent a Car with good success.

Around Las Terrenas, there is a taxi stand near the fish market with prices posted for most area destinations.
RESTAURANTS
Download the Komida app - it’s a great source for all things delivered and even if you don’t want food delivered, peruse the list of restaurants to get a sense of what’s available. If you use Komida our address is Villas Infinity #5. They’ll let you know when they’re at the gate and you need to let them in.
There is a constantly changing restaurant, street food and bar scene in Las Terrenas. Here are some of our current favorites:
La Tre Caravelle - consistently great, upscale Italian inspired food with a beautiful rooftop patio. Walking distance Reservations recommended for weekends.
Porto - Stunning open air restaurant right on the beach with great food and amazing cocktails. A perfect special night out kind of place. Sunday brunch here is an all day listening to music and sipping mimosas kind of scene. Reservations recommended for weekends. 1 mile towards Portillo.
O Grill by Sandro - walkable, good higher quality food, French influence.
El Lugar - Grill with good steaks as well as fish, pastas, etc. Good cocktails, great rooftop view. Walkable.
Raphaelle Pizza - Fantastic authentic Italian pizza across from the beach next to the Afreeka Hotel. Very close walk.
Gringo Burger - The best burgers in town, beachfront and easy walk.
La Fragoneta - Quaint beach bar with lots of great “upcycled furniture” run out of a vintage van with good small bites. Easy Walk.
L’Industrie Pizza - Brooklyn style pizza with all handmade dough and high quality toppings.
Tropik Bowl - Fresh smoothies, healthy breakfast and lunch.
Le Creperie des Blondes - fantastic crepes and French toast.
La Catrina - fresh, straightforward Mexican food.
Katana Sushi Bar - very good sushi and Japanese in a beautifully designed setting. In town past Super Pola and available on Komida for delivery. Owned by one of our neighbors!
Las Terrenas Cakes - If you need a cake or dessert for a special occasion, Carine is an extraordinary French pastry chef and does made to order desserts. Check her out on Instagram.
Etno - Beach club that is a great spot for music and dancing. Live band on Thursday nights.
Medical Care
United Doctors - English speaking, very attentive, competent and clean clinic environment. Cash payment, but very reasonable rates and available most of the time via WhatsApp. +1 (829) 534-1980
International Clinic - We’ve only used it for covid tests, but seems like a good place for xcans, xrays, etc as needed. (829) 534-1980

Pharmacies - There are good pharmacies all over town; most with English speaking pharmacists. Carolx in the “cruise ship” plaza is open 24 hours (809) 240-6688. There are also pharmacy delivery options for basic supplies on Komida.

Dentist - Gallia Dental is an English, French and Spanish speaking dental practice owned by Dr. Tim Galliath. He can be contacted via WhatsApp +1(849)-410-3750.
Tours
The best whale watching by far is with Whale Samana by Kim Bedall, an American marine biologist with over 30 years experience with the whales here.
We’ve used Flora Tours and Toby’s Tour. Both recommended for all the usual tour options.
Sports & Spas
We recommend Kite World for surfing and kitesurfing lessons.

For yoga and holistic life classes, check out Yoga Life Villa on Instagram.

We highly recommend the very authentic hammam feel at Hammam Kef. Excellent massages as well.

Zen Vida is an amazing spa within walking distance from Xelia. They do great massages, facials, and manicures/pedicures. Their WhatsApp is +1(829)388-6745.
